About Jaxe and FIRE WATCH

JAXE (pronounced "Jacks") was founded by a veteran firefighter and full-time fire investigator who saw a better way to serve the public.

Since 2006, I’ve served as a firefighter. I've been involved in fire investigations since 2015 and have been working full-time in investigations since 2019. Over the years I watched firefighters do exactly what they’re trained to do: perform thorough overhaul and often the last thing said prior to leaving "give it another wetdown" in hopes that we don't get called back for a rekindle.

Rekindles are relatively rare precisely because of this aggressive approach. However, it comes at a high cost: significant unnecessary overhaul and water damage to the structure causing longer recovery times for property owners, and larger insurance claims.

I felt the fire department could provide even better service to the citizens and taxpayers we protect. What if firefighters could do less destructive overhaul, use far less water, and still leave the scene confident that any hidden hot spot would be caught early?

That’s where FIRE WATCH was born.

FIRE WATCH is a simple, rugged, temporary monitoring system designed for firefighters to quickly install prior to the fire department leaving the scene. It delivers reliable smoke detection in structure where the original fire alarm systems have been disabled or damaged. If a hot spot kicks up, FIRE WATCH notifies emergency services so crews can return early and extinguish a small fire — not a full-blown rekindle.
