Suggested PSAP/Dispatch procedures
FIRE WATCH communicates through text-to-911 to the local PSAP. If the fire department responds to 123 Main St., on scene fire department personnel will communicate with the PSAP that they will be installing Fire Watch at 123 Main St. in the structure. This would commonly be done at the end of the incident prior to fire department personnel clearing the scene.
Fire department personnel will notify PSAP that they will be installing FIRE WATCH at 123 Main St.
After FIRE WATCH is activated, within roughly 60 seconds, FIRE WATCH will notify the PSAP of the following through text-to-911:
"FIRE WATCH is ON, if GPS location is confirmed, FIRE WATCH will follow up with its location"
Advise fire department personnel that the Activation message was received (only if recieved)
If no Activation message is received after a few minutes, advise fire department personnel that no Activation message was received and the device should NOT be installed.
FIRE WATCH will then attempt to get a GPS fix for up to 10 minutes (commonly within 3 minutes but up to 10)
Once FIRE WATCH gets a GPS fix, it will notify the PSAP of one of the following messages depending on cellular connectivity in the area:
"FIRE WATCH Appx. Location: 123 Main St, Fort Wayne"
"FIRE WATCH Appx Location: (lat/long gps coordinates here)"
If no GPS fix is acquired within the 10 minutes the device will continue to function but will not notify its location
Advise fire department personnel that you did (or after 10 minutes did not) receive the location
Fire department personnel are advised to then test the device in its installed location. PSAP will receive the alarm/alert message as if the device alerted to smoke with one of the following messages:
"FIRE WATCH Fire Alarm at/near: 123 Main St., Fort Wayne"--(If GPS was obtained w/ street address)
"FIRE WATCH Fire Alarm at/near: (lat/long gps coordinates here)"--(If GPS was obtained w/out street address)
"FIRE WATCH Fire Alarm, contact FD for last known location"--(If GPS was unavailable)
Fire Watch will send the alarm SMS message every 5 minutes of continuous alarming until the device doesn't detect smoke.
Fire Watch will operate for up to 48 hours and is to be uninstalled by authorized personnel after that 48 hours. Fire Watch will not alert after 48 hours of operation.
