DEMO-Fire Watch Operating Instructions

WARNING: Demo units will notify 911

Demo units are functional units that are not intended to be put in service.

Demo units are Orange, front-line units are Black.

Demo units are solely to be used to test with your local PSAP to confirm compatibility with your local PSAP system.

Testing must only be done after communicating with the local PSAP that a test is being done.

Unit will run for up to 48 hours, the first 24 hours unit will notify the PSAP quickly, between 24-48 hours the unit will notify the PSAP within 60 seconds.

It is recomended to do multiple tests over multiple PSAP shifts.

After activation, the "test" button on the smoke detector can be used to simulate an alarm. This will notify 911/PSAP of an alarm.

Below are the directons for use of the front-line units, startup procedures are the same for DEMO and front-line units.

After demo is completed, follow Removal / Return to Manufacturer directions below.

HOLD HARMLESS, WAIVER, AND INDEMNITY AGREEMENT must be signed and submitted prior to activating Fire Watch!

CAUTION: Gloves and Eye protection are to be worn when handling and installing Fire Watch.

Fire Watch comes into contact with byproducts of combustion which are known to be harmful.

Activation

1. Notify PSAP/Dispatch that you will be activating and installing Fire Watch. Inform PSAP/Dispatch they will receive a Text-to-911 activation message from this device.


2. Request confirmation from PSAP/Dispatch that the activation message was received. Advise PSAP/Dispatch that GPS location confirmation (if available) may take up to 15 minutes.


3. Remove Fire Watch from packaging and pull the tabs as follows (CRITICAL—wrong order will prevent the device from working):

- Slowly pull and completely remove flexible Tab #1

- Slowly pull and completely remove flexible Tab #2

- Slowly pull and completely remove orange Tab #3

-Allow approximately 1 minute for the activation message to be sent to PSAP/dispatch


4. Place Fire Watch on your vehicle dashboard or in an area with open sky view. It may take up to 15 minutes for GPS location confirmation. Once PSAP/Dispatch has confirmed GPS location, proceed to Installation.


If no activation message is received DO NOT install. Proceed to Removal/Return below.


If activation message is confirmed by PSAP/dispatch but no location is provided within 15 minutes, proceed to Installation. Notify PSAP/dispatch that the device may not have obtained a GPS location. Request PSAP/dispatch to notate the device's approximate location/address (tied to this phone number) for the next 48 hours.


Installation

Fire Watch can be mounted vertically on a wall or horizontally on a ceiling. Once activated, Fire Watch will operate for up to 48 hours. For best results, leave Fire Watch installed for 24-48 hours.


Wall/Vertical Installation (only top screw needed)

1. Position the Fire Watch with the hood upright.

2. Use a Phillips head screwdriver or screw gun/drill to drive the screw into wood structural members.


Ceiling/Horizontal Installation (both screws required):

1. Position Fire Watch flat against the ceiling.

2. Use a Phillips head screwdriver or screw gun/drill to drive the screw into wood structural members.


Device should be tested in its installed location by pressing the “Test” button on the smoke detector. This will notify the PSAP/Dispatch that the device is alerting. To prevent excessive alerts to PSAP/Dispatch, device has a 5 minute delay after "Test" button or smoke alerting so it will only notify PSAP/Dispatch one time in a 5 minute period.


Removal / Return to Manufacturer

Warning: Failure to return Fire Watch to the manufacturer will result in a $2000 replacement cost fee.


1. To remove, pull the cotter pin(s) from used mounting screw(s). Remove Fire Watch from ceiling or wall.

2. Place Fire Watch back in its original box.

3. Peel backing off the provided pre-paid shipping label. Place label over the original shipping label. Use included pre-cut tape strips to seal box completely. Mail through USPS.
